Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976), which rose 6.27% or 127.0 points to trade at 2152.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 5.89% or 325.0 points to end at 5845.0 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) was up 5.65% or 190.0 points to 3550.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (T:9007), which fell 2.06% or 52.0 points to trade at 2477.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) declined 1.86% or 80.0 points to end at 4220.0 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (T:9009) was down 1.82% or 75.0 points to 4045.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2466 to 1013 and 227 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.32.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.65 to $56.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.82% or 0.50 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 3.25 to trade at $1510.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 106.36, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 118.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.597.
