Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Steel and Fishery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were LY Corp (TYO:4689), which rose 7.76% or 28.30 points to trade at 392.90 at the close. Meanwhile, TDK Corp (TYO:6762) added 6.32% or 560.00 points to end at 9,423.00 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714) was up 5.80% or 313.00 points to 5,711.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mercari Inc (TYO:4385), which fell 3.18% or 66.50 points to trade at 2,027.50 at the close. Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4502) declined 2.95% or 123.00 points to end at 4,044.00 and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) was down 2.58% or 81.00 points to 3,057.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2360 to 1232 and 256 ended unchanged.
Shares in TDK Corp (TYO:6762) rose to all time highs; rising 6.32% or 560.00 to 9,423.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 12.65% to 18.35 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.16% or 0.13 to $79.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.15% or 0.13 to hit $84.12 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 6.50 to trade at $2,335.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.15% to 157.94, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 169.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 105.00.
