Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Transportation Equipment and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keyence (TYO:6861), which rose 7.79% or 5,030.00 points to trade at 69,670.00 at the close. Meanwhile, T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) added 5.35% or 129.50 points to end at 2,545.00 and CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) was up 5.38% or 52.50 points to 1,026.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JTEKT Corp. (TYO:6473), which fell 9.16% or 127.00 points to trade at 1,258.50 at the close. Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4063) declined 6.37% or 402.00 points to end at 5,901.00 and NTN Corp. (TYO:6472) was down 2.88% or 9.10 points to 305.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2103 to 1529 and 226 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.43% to 20.01.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.50% or 0.42 to $83.99 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.54% or 0.48 to hit $89.49 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 8.50 to trade at $2,351.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 156.00, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 167.38.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 105.46.
