Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 4.86% or 107.0 points to trade at 2308.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyu Fudosan (T:3289) added 4.40% or 27.0 points to end at 640.0 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (T:6098) was up 3.69% or 247.0 points to 6947.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which fell 9.06% or 645.0 points to trade at 6477.0 at the close. Hitachi Ltd (T:6501) declined 3.15% or 197.0 points to end at 6049.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was down 1.73% or 100.0 points to 5680.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2217 to 1313 and 269 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.06% or 645.0 to 6477.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.01.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $72.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.24% or 4.40 to trade at $1806.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 114.26, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 129.49.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 96.060.
