Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Transport, Fishery and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 15.91% or 700.0 points to trade at 5100.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 4.06% or 94.0 points to end at 2410.0 and Daikin Industries, Ltd. (T:6367) was up 3.31% or 415.0 points to 12970.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 3.30% or 9.0 points to trade at 264.0 at the close. Subaru Corp (T:7270) declined 2.72% or 70.5 points to end at 2522.5 and The Shizuoka Bank, Ltd. (T:8355) was down 1.75% or 15.0 points to 843.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1950 to 1535 and 194 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.18% to 17.20.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.84% or 0.50 to $59.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.60% or 0.40 to hit $67.50 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.75 to trade at $1293.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 110.80, while EUR/JPY rose 0.20% to 124.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.797.
