Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Trend Micro Inc. (T:4704), which rose 3.93% or 260.0 points to trade at 6870.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Oji Holdings Corp. (T:3861) added 3.65% or 26.0 points to end at 739.0 and Secom Co., Ltd. (T:9735) was up 3.00% or 265.0 points to 9104.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 6.09% or 50.0 points to trade at 771.0 at the close. Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541) declined 2.86% or 110.0 points to end at 3740.0 and Mitsubishi Materials Corp. (T:5711) was down 2.68% or 80.0 points to 2900.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2420 to 969 and 221 ended unchanged.
Shares in Trend Micro Inc. (T:4704) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.93% or 260.0 to 6870.0. Shares in Secom Co., Ltd. (T:9735) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.00% or 265.0 to 9104.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.69% to 14.89.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.81% or 0.55 to $68.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.67% or 0.50 to hit $75.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.50 to trade at $1196.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 111.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 128.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 95.41.
