Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Gas & Water, Warehousing and Fishery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 5.27% or 130.0 points to trade at 2599.0 at the close. Meanwhile, JFE Holdings, Inc. (T:5411) added 3.43% or 72.0 points to end at 2172.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 3.40% or 12.0 points to 364.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004), which fell 3.76% or 114.0 points to trade at 2921.0 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) declined 2.41% or 2.0 points to end at 81.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was down 1.04% or 60.0 points to 5730.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2003 to 1195 and 269 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.15% to 14.77.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.35% or 0.16 to $46.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $50.77 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.78 to trade at $1312.32 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.23% to 110.49, while EUR/JPY rose 0.26% to 131.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 92.91.
