Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Warehousing and Rubber sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Amada Co., Ltd. (T:6113), which rose 6.73% or 75.0 points to trade at 1190.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Familymart Ltd (T:8028) added 6.66% or 1110.0 points to end at 17780.0 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) was up 4.58% or 112.0 points to 2559.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T:1925), which fell 2.95% or 103.0 points to trade at 3386.0 at the close. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) declined 2.74% or 100.0 points to end at 3555.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) was down 2.44% or 29.0 points to 1158.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2032 to 1471 and 203 ended unchanged.
Shares in Familymart Ltd (T:8028) rose to all time highs; rising 6.66% or 1110.0 to 17780.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.34% to 20.29.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.37% or 0.69 to $51.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.73% or 1.02 to hit $60.06 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.40 to trade at $1232.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.29% to 113.30, while EUR/JPY rose 0.60% to 128.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.632.
