Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Textile and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nikon Corp. (TYO:7731), which rose 7.25% or 108.00 points to trade at 1,598.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) added 6.40% or 680.00 points to end at 11,310.00 and Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015) was up 5.31% or 245.00 points to 4,855.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9532), which fell 3.02% or 76.00 points to trade at 2,441.00 at the close. Marubeni Corp. (TYO:8002) declined 2.56% or 35.00 points to end at 1,334.50 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) was down 2.20% or 58.00 points to 2,573.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2180 to 1327 and 245 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nikon Corp. (TYO:7731) rose to 3-years highs; rising 7.25% or 108.00 to 1,598.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.29% to 23.50.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.20% or 0.23 to $113.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.12% or 0.14 to hit $114.03 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 8.21 to trade at $1,855.81 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 127.11, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 136.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.61.
