Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Communication and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Meidensha Corp. (T:6508), which rose 3.88% or 58.0 points to trade at 1552.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Softbank Corp. (T:9984) added 3.70% or 326.0 points to end at 9145.0 and The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T:8331) was up 3.64% or 26.0 points to 740.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (T:4507), which fell 5.20% or 399.0 points to trade at 7270.0 at the close. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) declined 4.29% or 123.0 points to end at 2743.0 and Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) was down 3.19% or 3.0 points to 91.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2404 to 1067 and 214 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.54% to 20.40.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.47% or 0.76 to $50.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.30% or 0.79 to hit $59.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 2.20 to trade at $1226.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 113.58, while EUR/JPY fell 0.13% to 128.49.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 97.143.
