Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Communication and Precision Instruments sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Seiko Epson Cor (TYO:6724), which rose 10.42% or 225.00 points to trade at 2,384.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366) added 8.01% or 27.00 points to end at 364.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was up 7.19% or 102.00 points to 1,520.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005), which fell 7.03% or 23.40 points to trade at 309.30 at the close. Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) declined 5.80% or 180.00 points to end at 2,921.00 and Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015) was down 4.18% or 407.00 points to 9,321.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2422 to 1206 and 261 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.03% or 23.40 to 309.30.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.30% to 19.39.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.37% or 0.27 to $72.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.48% or 0.37 to hit $77.70 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.33% or 6.85 to trade at $2,046.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 148.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 159.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.86.
