Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803), which rose 19.70% or 500.00 points to trade at 3,038.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) added 14.83% or 1,000.00 points to end at 7,742.00 and Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801) was up 7.77% or 434.00 points to 6,021.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which fell 15.47% or 489.00 points to trade at 2,672.00 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 12.07% or 460.00 points to end at 3,350.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) was down 7.32% or 123.50 points to 1,563.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) fell to 5-year lows; falling 12.07% or 460.00 to 3,350.00. Shares in SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) fell to 3-years lows; down 7.32% or 123.50 to 1,563.50.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.87% to 45.28.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.55% or 0.42 to $77.26 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.36% or 0.29 to hit $79.95 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 1.25 to trade at $2,474.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.42% to 147.23, while EUR/JPY rose 0.45% to 160.78.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.99.
