Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Railway & Bus, Mining and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6504), which rose 5.98% or 47.0 points to trade at 833.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) added 3.15% or 12.0 points to end at 393.5 and Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:4063) was up 3.10% or 340.0 points to 11320.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604), which fell 5.79% or 32.4 points to trade at 527.0 at the close. Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021) declined 2.34% or 120.0 points to end at 5010.0 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T:7211) was down 2.22% or 19.0 points to 837.5.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2057 to 1308 and 215 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.79% or 32.4 to 527.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.11% to 16.39.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.32% or 0.22 to $69.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.34% or 0.25 to hit $74.29 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.40 to trade at $1219.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.07% to 111.15, while EUR/JPY fell 0.19% to 129.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.65.
