Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (TYO:2501), which rose 14.78% or 920.00 points to trade at 7,144.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sharp Corp (TYO:6753) added 7.82% or 63.80 points to end at 879.90 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) was up 7.12% or 240.00 points to 3,611.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mercari Inc (TYO:4385), which fell 7.08% or 154.00 points to trade at 2,021.00 at the close. Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:7762) declined 4.68% or 44.00 points to end at 897.00 and Nitto Denko Co (TYO:6988) was down 2.45% or 280.00 points to 11,140.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2716 to 995 and 169 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) rose to all time highs; rising 7.12% or 240.00 to 3,611.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.87% to 45.28.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.65% or 0.51 to $78.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.59% or 0.48 to hit $81.17 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.90 to trade at $2,505.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 147.15, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 161.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.52.
