Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305), which rose 6.15% or 220.0 points to trade at 3800.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Komatsu Ltd. (T:6301) added 5.43% or 172.0 points to end at 3337.0 and Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) was up 5.19% or 81.0 points to 1643.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rakuten Inc (T:4755), which fell 4.17% or 33.7 points to trade at 773.7 at the close. Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) declined 2.69% or 140.0 points to end at 5060.0 and Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2503) was down 2.15% or 66.0 points to 3005.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2340 to 1012 and 227 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.05% to 18.19.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.25% or 0.17 to $68.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $73.06 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1223.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 111.24, while EUR/JPY fell 0.18% to 129.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 94.45.
