Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.47% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tosoh Corp. (T:4042), which rose 5.21% or 87.0 points to trade at 1757.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Inpex Corp. (T:1605) added 3.97% or 43.5 points to end at 1138.5 and Olympus Corp. (T:7733) was up 3.89% or 62.5 points to 1669.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dentsu Inc. (T:4324), which fell 6.28% or 260.0 points to trade at 3880.0 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) declined 3.00% or 30.0 points to end at 970.0 and Amada Co., Ltd. (T:6113) was down 2.31% or 30.0 points to 1270.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2372 to 1157 and 251 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.68 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.10% or 0.06 to $60.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $65.44 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.65 to trade at $1481.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 109.58, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 122.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 96.695.
