Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd (T:5101), which rose 8.94% or 161.0 points to trade at 1961.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541) added 7.90% or 183.0 points to end at 2500.0 and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T:5713) was up 7.15% or 372.0 points to 5578.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Olympus Corp. (T:7733), which fell 4.84% or 114.0 points to trade at 2240.5 at the close. Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) declined 4.18% or 24.0 points to end at 550.0 and Terumo Corp. (T:4543) was down 4.06% or 181.0 points to 4278.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2576 to 1000 and 176 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 7.90% or 183.0 to 2500.0. Shares in Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T:5713) rose to 5-year highs; up 7.15% or 372.0 to 5578.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 24.42.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.74% or 0.44 to $59.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.95% or 0.59 to hit $62.73 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.71% or 12.55 to trade at $1789.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 105.77, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 128.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 90.463.
