Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Railway & Bus, Transportation Equipment and Marine Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Komatsu Ltd. (T:6301), which rose 5.69% or 198.0 points to trade at 3678.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) added 4.72% or 29.0 points to end at 644.0 and Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479) was up 4.65% or 103.0 points to 2318.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which fell 4.75% or 121.0 points to trade at 2424.0 at the close. Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (T:5802) declined 3.09% or 60.5 points to end at 1898.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) was down 2.27% or 27.0 points to 1160.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1661 to 1609 and 231 ended unchanged.
Shares in Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) rose to all time highs; rising 4.72% or 29.0 to 644.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.41% to 17.03.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.45% or 0.26 to $57.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.59% or 0.37 to hit $63.00 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.12% or 1.57 to trade at $1274.77 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 112.61, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 134.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.92.
