Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Precision Instruments and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 4.05% or 135.0 points to trade at 3470.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Keio Corp. (T:9008) added 3.83% or 200.0 points to end at 5420.0 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) was up 3.77% or 236.0 points to 6504.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which fell 7.33% or 285.0 points to trade at 3605.0 at the close. Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) declined 4.68% or 160.0 points to end at 3260.0 and Okuma Corp. (T:6103) was down 4.13% or 250.0 points to 5800.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2231 to 1175 and 171 ended unchanged.
Shares in Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.68% or 160.0 to 3260.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.86% to 16.19.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.24% or 0.16 to $67.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.33% or 0.24 to hit $72.08 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 5.10 to trade at $1244.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 112.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.27% to 131.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.12.
