Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Communication, Insurance and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531), which rose 6.56% or 52.0 points to trade at 845.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (T:9432) added 5.20% or 222.0 points to end at 4495.0 and Nippon Soda Co., Ltd. (T:4041) was up 4.94% or 43.0 points to 914.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501), which fell 4.48% or 39.0 points to trade at 832.0 at the close. Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) declined 4.04% or 29.5 points to end at 700.5 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (T:8804) was down 3.93% or 61.0 points to 1490.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1096 to 772 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.04% or 29.5 to 700.5. Shares in Nippon Soda Co., Ltd. (T:4041) rose to all time highs; rising 4.94% or 43.0 to 914.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.29% to 26.09.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.43% or 0.20 to $46.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.30% or 0.14 to hit $48.76 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1172.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.00% to 119.50, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 135.38.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.94.
