Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ebara Corp. (T:6361), which rose 11.40% or 298.0 points to trade at 2912.0 at the close. Meanwhile, NSK Ltd. (T:6471) added 7.06% or 55.0 points to end at 834.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 5.95% or 89.0 points to 1586.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rakuten Inc (T:4755), which fell 7.79% or 83.0 points to trade at 983.0 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) declined 5.29% or 519.0 points to end at 9292.0 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) was down 4.22% or 140.0 points to 3180.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2371 to 1147 and 170 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.30.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.72% or 0.30 to $41.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.81% or 0.36 to hit $44.86 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 9.60 to trade at $1936.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 106.77, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 125.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.705.
