Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (T:5631), which rose 5.56% or 104.0 points to trade at 1973.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) added 5.52% or 123.0 points to end at 2352.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 4.53% or 64.0 points to 1478.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Haseko Corp (T:1808), which fell 3.75% or 45.00 points to trade at 1155.00 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 2.80% or 10.0 points to end at 347.0 and Maruha Nichiro Corp (T:1333) was down 2.65% or 85.0 points to 3120.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1959 to 1489 and 263 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.75.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.48% or 0.27 to $57.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.31% or 0.20 to hit $64.03 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.45 to trade at $1424.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.15% to 108.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.32% to 120.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.498.
