Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Precision Instruments and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:9984), which rose 3.72% or 206.00 points to trade at 5,743.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501) added 2.73% or 13.00 points to end at 490.00 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) was up 2.42% or 61.00 points to 2,585.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253), which fell 7.07% or 125.00 points to trade at 1,643.00 at the close. Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) declined 3.30% or 220.00 points to end at 6,450.00 and TDK Corp (TYO:6762) was down 1.91% or 90.00 points to 4,630.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2117 to 1362 and 290 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.51% to 23.39.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.60% or 0.49 to $82.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.14% or 0.13 to hit $90.16 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.71% or 11.75 to trade at $1,644.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 149.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to 146.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 112.22.
