Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Communication, Machinery and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.35% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7912), which rose 14.81% or 387.00 points to trade at 3,000.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzuki Motor Corp. (TYO:7269) added 5.62% or 251.00 points to end at 4,720.00 and Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7911) was up 4.57% or 90.00 points to 2,058.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which fell 1.11% or 110.00 points to trade at 9,840.00 at the close. Itochu Corp. (TYO:8001) declined 1.00% or 42.00 points to end at 4,161.00 and SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:9412) was down 0.99% or 5.00 points to 498.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2291 to 1246 and 306 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.91% to 17.69.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.16% or 0.13 to $80.26 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.33% or 0.28 to hit $86.41 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.32% or 6.25 to trade at $1,929.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.20% to 130.41, while EUR/JPY rose 0.36% to 142.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 101.67.
