Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019), which rose 4.19% or 122.0 points to trade at 3035.0 at the close. Meanwhile, JGC Corp. (T:1963) added 3.31% or 56.0 points to end at 1746.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 3.29% or 84.0 points to 2641.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which fell 2.95% or 160.0 points to trade at 5260.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) declined 2.57% or 78.0 points to end at 2952.0 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) was down 2.20% or 156.0 points to 6923.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2281 to 1233 and 261 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.32.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.91% or 0.54 to $58.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.95% or 0.61 to hit $63.78 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 2.05 to trade at $1467.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 108.50, while EUR/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 120.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 97.620.
