Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 3.66% or 51.0 points to trade at 1446.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Softbank Group Corp. (T:9984) added 3.44% or 178.0 points to end at 5350.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) was up 2.54% or 105.0 points to 4240.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983), which fell 1.78% or 1190.0 points to trade at 65640.0 at the close. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) declined 1.51% or 50.0 points to end at 3270.0 and Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:5901) was down 1.36% or 29.0 points to 2110.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2545 to 960 and 216 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.80 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.12% or 0.64 to $56.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.65 to hit $63.17 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.85 to trade at $1417.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.00% to 107.83, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 121.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.343.
