Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Textile, Chemical and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which rose 8.98% or 37.50 points to trade at 455.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) added 4.07% or 220.00 points to end at 5,626.00 and Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) was up 3.96% or 193.00 points to 5,064.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which fell 5.51% or 168.50 points to trade at 2,888.50 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 4.76% or 234.00 points to end at 4,681.00 and Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) was down 4.56% or 304.00 points to 6,359.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2087 to 1525 and 255 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.76% to 17.11.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.17% or 0.14 to $80.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.20% or 0.17 to hit $85.16 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 3.20 to trade at $2,343.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 157.79, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 169.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 104.90.
