Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Automobiles & Parts and Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503), which rose 2.35% or 40.0 points to trade at 1739.8 at the close. Meanwhile, Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) added 2.25% or 181.0 points to end at 8226.0 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) was up 2.20% or 33.0 points to 1530.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JGC Corp. (T:1963), which fell 3.41% or 78.0 points to trade at 2209.0 at the close. TOTO Ltd. (T:5332) declined 3.10% or 180.0 points to end at 5630.0 and Otsuka Holdings Ltd (T:4578) was down 3.04% or 167.0 points to 5332.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2020 to 1309 and 241 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.48% to 15.00.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.51% or 0.33 to $65.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.23% or 0.17 to hit $75.46 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1296.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 109.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 128.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.89.
