Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Financial Services and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101), which rose 3.15% or 73.0 points to trade at 2393.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) added 3.14% or 46.0 points to end at 1510.0 and Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) was up 3.14% or 110.0 points to 3615.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tosoh Corp. (T:4042), which fell 2.76% or 70.0 points to trade at 2466.0 at the close. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201) declined 2.69% or 30.0 points to end at 1083.8 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was down 2.06% or 11.0 points to 522.5.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1999 to 1295 and 204 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.46% to 15.50.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.37% or 0.19 to $51.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.23% or 0.13 to hit $56.66 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.69% or 8.86 to trade at $1275.94 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.36% to 112.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.23% to 132.59.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 93.43.
