Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Mining and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911), which rose 2.47% or 124.00 points to trade at 5,152.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. (TYO:8830) added 2.28% or 79.00 points to end at 3,549.00 and Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) was up 2.24% or 6.00 points to 274.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TYO:5707), which fell 3.27% or 83.00 points to trade at 2,453.00 at the close. Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (TYO:9301) declined 2.48% or 90.00 points to end at 3,535.00 and Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) was down 2.31% or 100.00 points to 4,235.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1798 to 1674 and 303 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 13.06% to 20.69.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.25% or 0.22 to $88.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.12% or 0.11 to hit $94.21 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.75% or 12.85 to trade at $1,696.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 143.54, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 143.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 109.45.
