Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.18% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were CyberAgent Inc (T:4751), which rose 3.40% or 125.0 points to trade at 3800.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) added 3.22% or 110.0 points to end at 3530.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 2.38% or 66.0 points to 2835.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which fell 4.64% or 47.0 points to trade at 965.0 at the close. Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (T:2501) declined 3.72% or 101.0 points to end at 2616.0 and Familymart Ltd (T:8028) was down 2.78% or 73.0 points to 2556.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2407 to 1155 and 241 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.20 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.01% or 0.59 to $59.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.13% or 0.73 to hit $65.58 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.85 to trade at $1561.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 110.17, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 122.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.365.
