Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Gas & Water and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nitto Denko Co (TYO:6988), which rose 6.17% or 510.00 points to trade at 8,780.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Canon Inc (TYO:7751) added 5.19% or 156.00 points to end at 3,162.00 and JTEKT Corp. (TYO:6473) was up 5.07% or 52.00 points to 1,077.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which fell 9.21% or 1,070.00 points to trade at 10,550.00 at the close. Nomura Holdings Inc (TYO:8604) declined 7.24% or 37.90 points to end at 485.40 and Hitachi Zosen Corp. (TYO:7004) was down 3.63% or 31.00 points to 823.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2004 to 1527 and 286 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.38% to 16.82.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.19% or 0.14 to $74.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.35% or 0.27 to hit $77.99 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.75% or 15.00 to trade at $2,011.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 133.63, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 147.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 101.17.
