Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531), which rose 9.92% or 96.0 points to trade at 1064.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 4.77% or 250.0 points to end at 5490.0 and Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021) was up 4.36% or 230.0 points to 5500.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Obayashi Corp. (T:1802), which fell 4.92% or 55.0 points to trade at 1063.0 at the close. Shimizu Corp. (T:1803) declined 4.36% or 42.0 points to end at 921.0 and Taisei Corp. (T:1801) was down 3.80% or 160.0 points to 4045.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1758 to 1748 and 183 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.36% or 230.0 to 5500.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.87 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.29% or 0.89 to $38.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.85% or 0.76 to hit $40.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 3.45 to trade at $1725.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.35% to 107.34, while EUR/JPY fell 0.20% to 121.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 96.183.
