Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202), which rose 5.73% or 65.0 points to trade at 1200.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) added 5.52% or 32.0 points to end at 612.0 and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6504) was up 4.51% or 210.0 points to 4870.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were East Japan Railway Co. (T:9020), which fell 2.12% or 164.0 points to trade at 7575.0 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) declined 2.09% or 64.0 points to end at 3001.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) was down 2.03% or 153.0 points to 7379.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2695 to 883 and 165 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.52% or 32.0 to 612.0. Shares in Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6504) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.51% or 210.0 to 4870.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.86 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.07% or 0.04 to $59.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $62.80 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.60 to trade at $1741.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 109.86, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 130.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 92.380.
