Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064), which rose 3.86% or 91.0 points to trade at 2446.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sekisui House, Ltd. (T:1928) added 3.45% or 69.0 points to end at 2067.0 and ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) was up 2.93% or 70.5 points to 2480.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which fell 3.41% or 52.0 points to trade at 1473.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 3.08% or 50.0 points to end at 1576.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) was down 2.92% or 10.0 points to 332.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2482 to 1061 and 144 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 28.12.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.85% or 0.34 to $40.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.83% or 0.35 to hit $42.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 0.85 to trade at $1779.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 107.50, while EUR/JPY rose 0.34% to 121.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.935.
