Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 4.37% or 78.0 points to trade at 1861.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Terumo Corp. (T:4543) added 3.09% or 180.0 points to end at 6010.0 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) was up 2.56% or 90.0 points to 3600.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Familymart Ltd (T:8028), which fell 5.47% or 560.0 points to trade at 9670.0 at the close. KDDI Corp. (T:9433) declined 5.22% or 162.5 points to end at 2953.5 and NTT Docomo, Inc. (T:9437) was down 4.00% or 117.5 points to 2820.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2396 to 1004 and 197 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.28% to 17.02.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $65.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.19% or 0.14 to hit $72.35 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.00 to trade at $1200.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 110.19, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 126.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 95.45.
