Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Shipbuilding and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.07% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Obayashi Corp. (TYO:1802), which rose 20.59% or 300.00 points to trade at 1,757.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801) added 8.81% or 412.00 points to end at 5,090.00 and Kajima Corp. (TYO:1812) was up 6.49% or 179.00 points to 2,938.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432), which fell 4.60% or 64.50 points to trade at 1,338.50 at the close. Takara Holdings Inc. (TYO:2531) declined 3.85% or 48.00 points to end at 1,200.00 and M3 Inc (TYO:2413) was down 3.58% or 77.50 points to 2,087.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2000 to 1671 and 218 ended unchanged.
Shares in Obayashi Corp. (TYO:1802) rose to 5-year highs; up 20.59% or 300.00 to 1,757.00. Shares in Kajima Corp. (TYO:1812) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.49% or 179.00 to 2,938.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.16% to 20.98.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.55% or 0.43 to $78.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.43% or 0.36 to hit $82.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.75 to trade at $2,124.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 150.53, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 163.31.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 103.86.
