Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 4.34% or 308.0 points to trade at 7400.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Subaru Corp (T:7270) added 2.64% or 70.5 points to end at 2740.5 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) was up 2.50% or 118.0 points to 4832.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976), which fell 3.29% or 120.0 points to trade at 3525.0 at the close. IHI Corp. (T:7013) declined 3.09% or 87.0 points to end at 2732.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) was down 3.08% or 120.0 points to 3770.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2173 to 1389 and 227 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.36.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.67% or 0.39 to $58.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.61% or 0.39 to hit $64.39 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 1.05 to trade at $1552.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 109.97, while EUR/JPY rose 0.07% to 122.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.982.
