Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transport, Retail and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035), which rose 3.53% or 760.00 points to trade at 22,260.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) added 3.31% or 317.00 points to end at 9,886.00 and Ebara Corp. (TYO:6361) was up 3.27% or 55.50 points to 1,751.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568), which fell 8.64% or 499.00 points to trade at 5,275.00 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) declined 4.10% or 127.50 points to end at 2,984.50 and Terumo Corp. (TYO:4543) was down 3.19% or 85.50 points to 2,597.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2019 to 1599 and 228 ended unchanged.
Shares in Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.10% or 127.50 to 2,984.50.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.20% to 28.72.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.47% or 0.32 to $68.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $71.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 1.00 to trade at $2,533.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 143.32, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 158.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 101.59.
