Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Machinery, Services and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436), which rose 4.53% or 107.00 points to trade at 2,470.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (TYO:5713) added 3.83% or 176.00 points to end at 4,768.00 and Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) was up 3.75% or 288.00 points to 7,964.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9007), which fell 5.76% or 119.00 points to trade at 1,948.50 at the close. Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755) declined 3.91% or 34.20 points to end at 841.40 and Omron Cor (TYO:6645) was down 3.17% or 178.00 points to 5,440.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3027 to 700 and 147 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.82% to 19.65.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.61% or 0.51 to $84.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.58% or 0.51 to hit $87.93 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.78% or 17.65 to trade at $2,274.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 151.73, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 162.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 104.80.
