Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Transportation Equipment and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058), which rose 3.72% or 258.00 points to trade at 7,200.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (TYO:8031) added 3.31% or 184.00 points to end at 5,748.00 and SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO:9984) was up 2.84% or 185.00 points to 6,691.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sompo Holdings Inc (TYO:8630), which fell 5.34% or 348.00 points to trade at 6,167.00 at the close. Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8766) declined 5.09% or 173.00 points to end at 3,226.00 and MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (TYO:8725) was down 4.83% or 254.00 points to 5,006.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1777 to 1770 and 298 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.01% to 20.53.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.10% or 0.07 to $71.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.38% or 0.29 to hit $76.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 4.05 to trade at $1,966.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 141.72, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 155.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.95.
