Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical/Machinery, Chemical and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JGC Corp. (T:1963), which rose 3.18% or 67.0 points to trade at 2172.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Yusen K.K (T:9101) added 3.11% or 63.0 points to end at 2088.0 and Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) was up 3.10% or 4.0 points to 133.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which fell 3.26% or 115.0 points to trade at 3415.0 at the close. Maruha Nichiro Corp (T:1333) declined 2.59% or 100.0 points to end at 3755.0 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) was down 2.55% or 85.0 points to 3245.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1736 to 1629 and 237 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.41% to 14.90.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.15% or 0.10 to $68.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.46% or 0.35 to hit $76.85 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.27% or 3.30 to trade at $1219.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 111.11, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 129.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.60.
