Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Marine Transport, Pharmaceutical Industry and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2503), which rose 4.34% or 129.5 points to trade at 3110.0 at the close. Meanwhile, ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) added 3.25% or 137.5 points to end at 4362.5 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 2.71% or 110.0 points to 4172.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ebara Corp. (T:6361), which fell 3.85% or 155.0 points to trade at 3870.0 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) declined 3.48% or 330.0 points to end at 9165.0 and NSK Ltd. (T:6471) was down 3.45% or 46.0 points to 1287.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2190 to 1139 and 243 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.82% to 16.96 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.83% or 0.59 to $70.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.32% or 1.04 to hit $77.75 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1304.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 109.51, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 128.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.76.
