Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003), which rose 5.41% or 39.00 points to trade at 760.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) added 3.59% or 291.00 points to end at 8,386.00 and Nitto Denko Co (TYO:6988) was up 3.51% or 415.00 points to 12,255.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which fell 3.95% or 18.00 points to trade at 438.00 at the close. Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7202) declined 3.32% or 69.00 points to end at 2,011.50 and Fanuc Corp. (TYO:6954) was down 2.54% or 109.00 points to 4,176.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2139 to 1491 and 250 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nitto Denko Co (TYO:6988) rose to all time highs; rising 3.51% or 415.00 to 12,255.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.87% to 19.81.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.65% or 0.50 to $77.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.55% or 0.45 to hit $82.28 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 8.95 to trade at $2,053.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 147.34, while EUR/JPY fell 0.23% to 159.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 103.34.
