Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which rose 5.55% or 449.0 points to trade at 8543.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 3.28% or 200.0 points to end at 6300.0 and Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) was up 2.27% or 9.0 points to 405.3 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which fell 2.78% or 55.0 points to trade at 1925.0 at the close. Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303) declined 2.72% or 40.0 points to end at 1430.0 and Kuraray Co., Ltd. (T:3405) was down 2.46% or 30.0 points to 1189.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2006 to 1399 and 316 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.34.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.16% or 0.09 to $55.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $60.34 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 7.85 to trade at $1507.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.15% to 106.45, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 118.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 98.060.
