Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 2.84% or 200.0 points to trade at 7244.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) added 2.77% or 62.0 points to end at 2302.0 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was up 2.76% or 12.0 points to 446.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which fell 6.82% or 51.0 points to trade at 697.0 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) declined 3.56% or 34.0 points to end at 922.0 and JGC Corp. (T:1963) was down 3.21% or 58.0 points to 1747.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2405 to 1184 and 221 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.52.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.35% or 0.21 to $60.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.21% or 0.14 to hit $66.00 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.51% or 7.60 to trade at $1488.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 109.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.00% to 121.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.240.
