Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Gas & Water sectors led shares higher while losses in the Technology, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.29%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 2.30% or 1.64 points to trade at 73.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) added 2.09% or 0.21 points to end at 10.18 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was up 1.85% or 0.46 points to 25.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW), which fell 2.33% or 1.72 points to trade at 72.12 at the close. L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) declined 2.23% or 9.60 points to end at 421.35 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) was down 1.79% or 0.46 points to 25.02.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 9.60% to 11.23, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was up 9.28% to settle at 1.86 and Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which gained 5.42% to close at 14.80.
The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (EPA:BIOX) which was down 3.19% to 98.75 in late trade, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) which lost 2.33% to settle at 72.12 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) which was down 2.23% to 421.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 303 to 209 and 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.30% or 1.64 to 73.10.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.08% or 24.70 to $2,306.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.83% or 0.71 to hit $85.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.82 to trade at $89.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 104.08.
