Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.04%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 1.67% or 0.20 points to trade at 12.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) added 1.41% or 2.65 points to end at 191.10 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) was up 1.26% or 5.00 points to 402.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which fell 1.17% or 0.34 points to trade at 28.72 at the close. Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) declined 0.88% or 0.09 points to end at 10.38 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was down 0.60% or 11.60 points to 1,929.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which unchanged 11.18% to 0.02, Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was up 5.53% to settle at 2.56 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which gained 5.45% to close at 4.80.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 1.64% to 23.34 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 1.28% to settle at 239.40 and Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which was down 1.28% to 16.99 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 310 to 215 and 98 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.05% or 21.70 to $2,091.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.69% or 1.28 to hit $74.29 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 1.19 to trade at $79.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 100.62.
