Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 2.27%, while the SBF 120 index declined 2.19%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 0.38% or 0.07 points to trade at 17.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) fell 0.34% or 0.04 points to end at 11.71 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 0.35% or 0.04 points to 10.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 6.26% or 1.76 points to trade at 26.34 at the close. Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) declined 6.05% or 2.17 points to end at 33.80 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was down 4.85% or 3.15 points to 61.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which rose 5.83% to 37.04, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was up 1.28% to settle at 9.10 and Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which gained 0.90% to close at 23.04.
The worst performers were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 7.06% to 16.32 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which lost 6.26% to settle at 26.34 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was down 6.05% to 33.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 501 to 90 and 64 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.31% or 24.15 to $1866.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.99% or 0.92 to hit $94.02 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.59 to trade at $95.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1311, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8359.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.267.
