Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.86%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.81%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 1.59% or 1.85 points to trade at 118.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) added 0.65% or 1.25 points to end at 192.30 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 0.46% or 0.23 points to 50.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which fell 3.71% or 1.47 points to trade at 38.05 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 3.61% or 5.36 points to end at 142.98 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 3.46% or 1.00 points to 27.89.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which rose 6.14% to 268.00, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was up 1.59% to settle at 118.00 and Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) which gained 1.33% to close at 28.88.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 7.75% to 6.83 in late trade, Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which lost 7.13% to settle at 1.97 and Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 6.25% to 11.71 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 410 to 145 and 69 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.77% or 14.75 to $1,921.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.40% or 1.12 to hit $80.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.26 to trade at $86.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 101.96.
